Thomas Meighan
Thomas Meighan was a prominent American silent film actor who rose to fame in the early 20th century. He was born on April 9, 1879, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and began his acting career on stage before transitioning to film. Meighan appeared in over 60 films throughout his career, including the 1920 film Way Down East and the 1925 film The Big Parade, which were both highly successful at the box office. He was known for his rugged good looks, commanding presence, and ability to convey emotion through his performances. Meighan's success in the film industry was due in part to his collaboration with director Cecil B. DeMille, with whom he worked on several films. Meighan was also known for his philanthropic efforts, and he was a strong advocate for the Motion Picture Relief Fund, which provided assistance to those in the film industry who were in need. Despite his success, Meighan retired from acting in 1934 and lived a quiet life until his death on July 8, 1936. He was remembered by his peers as a talented and dedicated actor who made a significant contribution to the film industry during its early years.
