The Year Of Roaster Calendar

The Year Of Roaster Calendar

The Year of Roaster Calendar is an innovative and culturally significant design project that masterfully blends traditional Vietnamese lunar new year aesthetics with contemporary visual communication principles. Created for 2017, the Year of the Rooster in the Vietnamese zodiac, this calendar series represents a sophisticated interpretation of traditional timekeeping artifacts, featuring meticulously crafted watercolor illustrations that narrate compelling stories of success and prosperity. The design incorporates sophisticated production techniques, including 7-color metallic hologram printing, UV spot varnishing, and hot stamping, resulting in an elegant interplay of matte and glossy surfaces. Available in multiple formats, including a desk version (9cm x 21cm) and wall calendar (34.5cm x 60cm), the design showcases monthly watercolor paintings that symbolically represent the rooster's five virtues: responsibility, fidelity, courage, kindness, and confidence. The calendar's artistic elements draw inspiration from the Vietnamese tradition of displaying decorative paintings during Lunar New Year festivities, while incorporating modern brand visual language through subtle pattern variations and sophisticated color schemes. This innovative approach to calendar design earned recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Advertising, Marketing and Communication Design category, acknowledging its excellence in combining cultural authenticity with contemporary design sensibilities. The project, which saw a nationwide distribution of 100,000 copies in December 2016, demonstrates exceptional attention to material quality and production detail, utilizing MDF backing, metallic foil accents, and premium Duplex 230 printing for all calendar boxes.
