The Woody Aroma Of Cypress Residential

The Woody Aroma Of Cypress Residential

The Woody Aroma of Cypress Residential is an exemplary interior design project that masterfully integrates natural materials and cultural artifacts within a 225-square-meter apartment located in Taiwan's capital. Completed in January 2022 by designer Yu-Shan Liu, this sophisticated residential space showcases an innovative approach to incorporating traditional Formosan Cypress wood elements while maintaining a modern aesthetic sensibility. The design's distinctive feature lies in its harmonious blend of precious wood sculptures and practical living spaces, where rare Tiffany Blue Marble from Brazil serves as a striking focal point on the television wall, creating an elegant atmosphere throughout the interior. The project demonstrates exceptional material synthesis, combining marble flooring, ceramic tiles, wood, and brass metal elements to achieve a cohesive design language that responds to the clients' three-decade-long collection of Formosan Cypress. The spatial arrangement emphasizes openness and elegance, with wood cabinetry seamlessly integrated from ceiling to floor, transforming storage solutions into architectural features. The cypress dining table serves as a central gathering point, embodying both functionality and artistic value while fostering a natural and humanistic atmosphere. This thoughtfully executed design, which required eight months to complete, represents a sophisticated balance between preserving historical artifacts and creating a contemporary living environment. The project's excellence in interior space design was recognized with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its innovative approach to residential design and material application. The design successfully addresses the challenge of incorporating substantial wooden elements while maintaining an uncluttered, modern aesthetic, creating a space that reflects both the geographical context and the personal character of its occupants.
