The Tembusu Residential Condominium

The Tembusu Residential Condominium

The Tembusu Residential Condominium is an innovative architectural masterpiece that exemplifies the harmonious integration of nature with high-density urban living. Completed in 2016 in Hougang, Singapore, this residential development consists of five 18-storey blocks ingeniously interconnected as three superblocks, housing 337 units ranging from one-bedroom apartments to luxurious penthouses. The design concept draws inspiration from the site's historical context as a garment factory, metaphorically weaving architecture and landscape into a living tapestry. The development's distinctive features include an intricate network of sky gardens that serve as extensions of private living spaces, creating a sophisticated layer of semi-public areas that foster community interaction. The facade is characterized by delicate threads of vertical greenery that organically interweave with the architectural elements, while an innovative rain remediation system manifests as meandering streams and ponds throughout the grounds. The project, which spans 13,149.30 square meters with a gross floor area of 30,374.88 square meters, showcases technical innovation through its construction methodology, including the use of prefabricated sky terraces and self-climbing jumpform technology. The development's amenities include a 50-meter swimming pool, thematic pavilions, a private clubhouse, and a tennis court. Recognized for its exceptional design merit, The Tembusu was honored with the Golden A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category in 2017, acknowledging its significant contribution to sustainable urban living and innovative architectural design.
