The Skylight Is Like Sunshine Interior Design
The Skylight is Like Sunshine Interior Design is an innovative residential renovation project that exemplifies thoughtful architectural transformation through the strategic integration of natural light and spatial optimization. This 210-square-meter interior design intervention, created by Taiwanese designer Huang Chun-Chi, addresses the challenges of a narrow, elongated building structure through comprehensive architectural solutions. The project's cornerstone is its central atrium design, which introduces abundant natural illumination throughout the structure, effectively eliminating the previous issues of dark corridors and confined spaces. The renovation encompasses fundamental structural improvements, including foundation reinforcement, pipeline renewal, and the installation of an elevator system to enhance accessibility for elderly residents. The design employs sophisticated material selections, incorporating eco-friendly elements such as humidity-regulating clay, heat-insulating wood wool cement board, and high-quality PVC floor tiles, creating a harmonious balance between functionality and aesthetics. The spatial organization divides the lower floor between public and private zones, while the upper floor features a terrace garden and multi-functional recreation spaces, establishing a fluid vertical and horizontal circulation pattern. The project, completed in October 2021 in Taoyuan City, Taiwan, has been recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its innovative approach to residential renovation and its successful integration of modern amenities with sustainable design principles.
