The Rays Lobby is an award-winning interior design project that exemplifies innovative space transformation in commercial architecture, specifically focusing on the revitalization of a former industrial building into a modern office complex. Located on the first floor of the structure, this 500-square-meter lobby space demonstrates remarkable ingenuity in addressing significant architectural challenges, including the absence of natural light and restrictive ceiling heights ranging from 2065mm to 2440mm. The design solution employs a sophisticated array of elements to create an illusion of expanded space, incorporating strategically distributed light troughs throughout the ceiling that extend to surrounding areas, effectively concealing numerous structural beams while promoting sustainability and visual continuity. The reception area features an innovative design that integrates an existing square column into a cohesive, tailor-made unit, while the overall aesthetic is achieved through a careful selection of materials including plastic laminate, white and black colored back glasses, mirrors, hairline stainless steel, Corian, and marble. The design's thoughtful approach to space optimization is evident in details such as lowered reception counter tops, dark wooden stripes, and the strategic use of mirrors to enhance the perception of height and space. The project, completed in 2015, earned recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its excellence in transforming spatial limitations into design advantages. The lobby's distinct zones are delineated through a considered white and grey color scheme, while streamlined elements in the reception area create an engaging contrast with surrounding sharp-edged features, demonstrating a masterful balance of functional requirements and aesthetic refinement.
