The Pure Heart Residential

The Pure Heart Residential

The Pure Heart Residential is an award-winning interior design project that exemplifies minimalist aesthetics and child-centric spatial planning within an 82.6-square-meter apartment in Taiwan. Completed in June 2021 by designer Hsiao-Chi Chiang, this innovative renovation transforms a first-floor dwelling with limited natural light into a vibrant living space characterized by its pure, unadorned materiality and thoughtful spatial solutions. The design's distinctive features include a U-shaped glass window, double-step couch, and beveled TV wall that create an exploratory environment for children while maintaining sophisticated appeal for adults. The project's material palette combines terrazzo, wood grain HDP boards, metallic melamine, and strategic use of pink tones balanced with gold and gray accents to achieve a harmonious atmosphere. Notable architectural interventions include the enlargement of the living room, reduction of the study area, and installation of a transparent partition that maximizes natural light penetration. The design successfully addresses the challenges of first-floor living through innovative solutions such as casement windows for security and a cleverly integrated beam structure that creates playful spaces for children. Recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, the project demonstrates exceptional achievement in spatial optimization, material selection, and functional layout design, particularly in its approach to creating a family-friendly environment that balances childlike wonder with sophisticated residential design.
