The Order In Heterogeneity Residence
The Order in Heterogeneity Residence is an exemplary architectural interior design project that masterfully integrates Zen philosophy, neoclassical elements, and modernist principles within a 147-square-meter living space in New Taipei City, Taiwan. Completed in 2015 by designer Ming-Chuan Tai, this residential project demonstrates exceptional spatial organization through its sophisticated manipulation of scale in both horizontal and vertical dimensions. The design's distinctive features include a thoughtfully conceived entrance sequence featuring a black wooden-grille and wooden-veneer wall that creates a subtle transition into the living spaces, concealing a cleverly integrated parents' room. The living area showcases a floating TV wall adorned with refined grey-black marble and ironwork details, complemented by elevated wooden flooring that enhances the spatial dynamics. A particularly noteworthy element is the balcony design, which reimagines the traditional concept of a hanging garden through the incorporation of carefully selected plantings and a pebble pathway, offering residents an elevated sanctuary with panoramic urban views. The project's material palette demonstrates remarkable restraint and sophistication, combining exposed concrete, artificial slate, and grey fabric wall treatments to achieve a harmonious aesthetic that bridges multiple design languages. The residence, which won the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, exemplifies excellence in contemporary residential design through its thoughtful integration of storage solutions, sophisticated material selection, and careful attention to proportional relationships throughout the space.
