The Night Sky Residential is an award-winning interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of vintage British elegance with contemporary hospitality aesthetics. Located in New Taipei City, Taiwan, this 115-square-meter residential space, designed by Jau-Siang Li, Steven Sun, and Pei-Ling Liu, masterfully combines classic English elements with modern design sensibilities. The project, completed in 2021, features a sophisticated material palette including wooden tones, metal chandeliers, and vintage mirrors, while incorporating blue paint and crystal white tiles to create a balanced visual composition. The design's distinctive approach to spatial organization is evident in its open-plan layout, which employs curved ceiling treatments and beam removals to eliminate rigid architectural distinctions. The entrance is marked by an impressive hotel-like foyer, featuring a circular iron partition with inset glass screens that creates a dramatic transition into the public areas. The designers have paid particular attention to lighting, implementing recessed linear fixtures that emit a warm, yellow glow to enhance the vintage British hotel ambiance. The project's success in achieving its design objectives was recognized with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its innovative approach to residential space planning and its exceptional integration of traditional and contemporary design elements. The space is characterized by its thoughtful material transitions, including wood-grain flooring that extends seamlessly to the TV wall, complemented by curved patterns and a carefully curated blue palette that reinforces the British elegance theme throughout the four-room residence.
