The Natural Colors Residence

The Natural Colors Residence

The Natural Colors Residence is an award-winning architectural masterpiece that exemplifies the harmonious integration of natural elements with contemporary living spaces, designed by Wei-Chun Lin. Located in Changhua County, Taiwan, this 450-square-meter residence showcases a sophisticated approach to coastal living through its innovative use of natural stones and a combination of solid and hollow bricks, specifically engineered to combat salt erosion from coastal winds. The design philosophy draws inspiration from Tai Chi principles, emphasizing balance and harmony, while incorporating elements that reflect the client's mature and gentle personality. The interior space features thoughtfully designed elements including a black-stroke rock TV wall that creates a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces, irregular pavement patterns using plain-colored floor tiles that generate a relaxing atmosphere, and a sophisticated lighting system utilizing LED technology for energy efficiency. The residence's distinctive features include a black-framed glass door that effectively separates the kitchen area while maintaining visual continuity, and a symbolic round dining table placement that serves as a central gathering point. The project, which won a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional attention to environmental considerations through its 3D-technology-aided design process that optimized daylight reception and spatial planning. The integration of plum tree artwork in the working area symbolizes strength and beauty, while the overall design creates an extraordinary atmosphere that harmoniously blends elements of sky, earth, and architectural components, offering residents a profound connection to their natural surroundings.
