The Metaphor Of Residence Interior Design

The Metaphor Of Residence Interior Design

The Metaphor of Residence Interior Design is an award-winning residential interior design project completed in June 2016 in New Taipei City, Taiwan, that masterfully transforms a 132-square-meter four-room residence into a sophisticated living space. Designed by Ming-Chuan Tai, this project exemplifies contemporary residential design through its innovative use of space and materials, particularly notable for its exploitation of the 3.6-meter ceiling height to create dramatic spatial effects. The design's distinctive features include a white iron lattice showcase at the entrance that serves as a sophisticated spatial divider while maintaining visual continuity, and an artfully conceived public area comprising the living room, kitchen, and open kitchen. The interior is characterized by its thoughtful material palette, incorporating wooden-veneer walls, marble elements, and a unique bronze-painted feature wall that combines black, green, and white tones to create a complex yet harmonious atmosphere. The project demonstrates exceptional attention to technical detail, featuring integrated recess lighting with infrared sensors along the hallway's hidden doors, while maintaining design consistency through continuous wooden veneer wall treatments. The design, which won the Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, represents a significant achievement in modern residential interior design, successfully balancing aesthetic sophistication with functional practicality while responding to contemporary living requirements in an urban context.
