The MeetNi Guesthouse is an exemplary architectural and interior design project completed in 2020, situated in Yingshan, China, that masterfully bridges traditional Chinese aesthetics with contemporary design sensibilities. This 1000-square-meter establishment, distinguished by its innovative spatial arrangement and thoughtful integration of natural elements, represents a significant achievement in hospitality design, earning recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category. The project, conceived and executed by designer Lichen Ding alongside team members Yi Sun, Meng Lian Xiang, and Min Zhang, showcases a remarkable transformation of two connected buildings into a cohesive space through the introduction of a five-story hollow light well, effectively addressing the challenge of natural illumination in connecting corridors. The design philosophy emphasizes the harmonious fusion of classical Chinese architectural elements with modern aesthetics, utilizing textured paint treatments and carefully curated materials including local stone, wood, and traditional craftsmanship elements such as bamboo weaving and linen printing. The interior spaces feature an artful combination of modern furnishings and traditional decorative elements, creating a sophisticated dialogue between past and present. Notable design elements include wood grid screens that establish a vertical continuity throughout the space, art pendants in the atrium that evoke natural forms, and thoughtfully designed corridors that mirror traditional bamboo paths, all contributing to a serene and contemplative atmosphere that resonates with both cultural heritage and contemporary comfort requirements.
