The Mall Mixed-use is an innovative architectural complex designed to create a harmonious blend of cultural and commercial spaces in a desert environment, conceived by architects Ekin Çoban Turhan and Onat Öktem. This Iron A' Design Award-winning project encompasses a total construction area of 12,650 square meters within a 15,250-square-meter plot, strategically positioned along a major urban axis connecting the city center to the airport. The design philosophy deliberately departs from the conventional enclosed mall concept, instead dissolving the building program into an integrated district that actively engages with its surroundings. The complex incorporates multiple functions including an open shopping area, convention center, commercial units, recreational spaces, and a high-rise building combining office and residential units. Environmental consciousness is evident in its sophisticated architectural planning, where buildings are positioned parallel to the west to create natural shadowing effects, and the layout facilitates wind corridors for natural ventilation and passive cooling. The design employs numerous sustainable features, including a second facade on the western front creating a thermal buffer zone, strategically placed air vents, and a green roof system. The project's innovative approach to mixed-use development is particularly notable for its integration of local materials and conventional building systems, while maintaining a strong focus on cultural interaction through carefully designed urban spaces and open areas that promote community engagement and street life vitality.
