The Light In The Bubble Lamp
The Light in the Bubble Lamp is an innovative lighting design that reimagines the classic Edison bulb through contemporary technology and materials, created by Italian designer Andrea Ciappesoni. This sophisticated luminaire combines nostalgic aesthetics with modern LED technology, featuring a laser-cut plexiglass sheet crafted in the iconic shape of a traditional light bulb. The design's most distinctive characteristic lies in its transformative visual presence - appearing transparent when inactive, yet revealing an illuminated filament-like pattern when switched on, creating a ghost-like homage to Edison's original invention. The lamp, measuring 200mm x 150mm x 10mm, demonstrates an ingenious application of quantum physics principles, as light propagates through the crystal-clear PMMA material, producing complex diffraction and reflection patterns along its edges. This Silver A' Design Award-winning creation in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category exemplifies the harmonious fusion of classical inspiration with contemporary engineering, offering versatile installation options as either a pendant light or a traditional bulb replacement. The design's minimalist approach and elegant execution reflect Ciappesoni's philosophy of merging traditional Italian craftsmanship with futuristic design elements, while its innovative use of LED technology ensures energy efficiency without compromising the aesthetic appeal of vintage illumination.
