The Hygge Life Residential Space
The Hygge Life Residential Space is an innovative residential interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious integration of multigenerational living spaces, awarded the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category. Created by designer Chiang Hsiao Chi, this thoughtfully conceived 265-square-foot interior transformation reimagines a three-decade-old structure with a 5.4-meter height into a sophisticated dwelling that celebrates the Danish concept of hygge - a quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment. The design's cornerstone is its carefully orchestrated dining area, which serves as both a physical and emotional nucleus for connecting two distinct family units across generations. Through masterful manipulation of vertical and horizontal lines, the space achieves a delicate balance between openness and privacy, utilizing materials such as oak, iron, gray glass, and natural stone to create varying degrees of visual transparency and warmth. The interior architecture demonstrates exceptional spatial intelligence, featuring an open-concept kitchen that facilitates family interaction while maintaining distinct private zones through sophisticated material transitions and proportional relationships. The design's success lies in its ability to address the complex requirements of multigenerational living while creating a cohesive aesthetic experience, enhanced by the interplay of natural light and shadow throughout the day, resulting in dynamic visual compositions that evolve with time. This residential space represents a significant achievement in contemporary interior design, particularly in its approach to fostering family connections while preserving individual autonomy, earning recognition from the A' Design Award for its innovative solution to modern living challenges.
