The Home For An Antiquarian Interior Design
The Home for an Antiquarian Interior Design is an exemplary residential interior design project that masterfully integrates antique collections within a contemporary living space, completed in 2016 in New Taipei City, Taiwan. This sophisticated 256-square-meter residence represents a harmonious fusion of Oriental wisdom and suburban elegance, transforming the space into a curated wonderland for antiquarian treasures. The design's conceptual foundation draws inspiration from the metaphorical imagery of sky and earth, manifested through a distinctive square ceiling that imparts a sense of stability and comfort throughout the interior. The space features meticulously balanced visual elements, including two main accent walls and hand-painted door planks that depict vibrant ecological scenes. The interior's aesthetic sophistication is further enhanced through the incorporation of European-style elements, including an ornate TV wall and statement chandelier, complemented by purpose-built collection showcases. The dining area exemplifies country-style charm through its thoughtful combination of a log dining table, classical lighting fixtures, and decorative golden wall patterns. Notable design elements include antique window patterns integrated into the kitchen door, creating visual interest while preserving historical artifacts. The bedroom spaces demonstrate particular attention to detail, featuring clean lines, golden window patterns, and in the parents' room, a scholarly atmosphere achieved through wooden elements, country-style cornices, and carefully selected wallpapers. This project, designed by Szu-Wen Wang and Chung-Ting Wang, received recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its excellence in spatial design and innovative approach to preserving and displaying antique collections within a modern living environment.
