The Duplicated Edge Office is an innovative interior architectural design solution created by Japanese designer Tetsuya Matsumoto, which transforms a narrow 108-square-meter space with low ceiling height into a dynamic, multifunctional educational facility environment. The design's centerpiece is a distinctive sharp triangular reception and information counter that ingeniously divides the space into functional zones without traditional wall partitions. This sophisticated spatial arrangement is enhanced through the strategic implementation of reflective surfaces, featuring mirrors on the back wall and reflective aluminum ceiling panels, creating an illusion of expanded space and enhanced dimensionality. The design, which won the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, exemplifies excellence in contemporary Japanese interior architecture through its clever resolution of spatial constraints. The reception area's angular geometry serves multiple purposes, incorporating both administrative functions and consultation spaces while maintaining visual continuity throughout the environment. The design's materiality combines conventional Japanese interior elements, including LGS structures and vinyl-finished wood panels, with modern reflective surfaces to achieve its transformative effect.
