The Corridor Interior Design is an innovative residential interior design project completed in 2021 in Hsinchu City, Taiwan, that masterfully transforms a 100-square-meter space through thoughtful spatial reorganization and contemporary Japanese design elements. The project, designed by Yi-Lun Hsu, demonstrates exceptional space optimization by reconceptualizing the traditional three-bedroom layout into an open, interconnected living space that seamlessly joins the living room, dining room, and study area. A distinguishing feature of the design is the raised floor corridor extending from the living room to the study room, creating a multifunctional space for various activities including tea brewing, reading, and exercise. The interior employs a sophisticated material palette, featuring light wood tones throughout, white marble for the main TV wall, and strategic use of grille elements that establish a modern Japanese aesthetic. The design addresses environmental concerns through an advanced ceiling-mounted system incorporating air purification, dehumidification, and climate control, with accessible control panels positioned in the corridor. Notable design elements include pink hexagonal tiles at the entrance, cleverly concealed storage solutions, and a thoughtfully designed study area with versatile sliding doors that conceal a guest room and bathroom. The project, which won an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, exemplifies excellence in residential interior design through its harmonious blend of functionality, aesthetics, and environmental consciousness.
