The Construction In Coding Residence

The Construction In Coding Residence

The Construction in Coding Residence is an innovative interior design project that exemplifies the sophisticated integration of spatial elements through the thoughtful composition of light and shade, transforming conventional living spaces into a coded architectural language. Located in Taipei City, Taiwan, this 120-square-meter residential space, completed in May 2015, demonstrates a masterful approach to spatial reconfiguration through its distinctive L-shaped layout and strategic implementation of design elements. Designer Chih-Hao Kao's vision manifests in the careful manipulation of linear compositions, material contrasts, and volumetric relationships, creating a dynamic interplay between form and function. The project's most notable features include an inclined high ceiling that creates compelling perspective effects, a centrally positioned coding wall that transforms 2D arrangements into 3D frame performances through dark iron linear elements, and thoughtfully placed French windows complemented by elegant silk curtains. The design's sophisticated approach to spatial circulation is evident in its dual pathways: one leading to a statement stone wall in the public area, and another traversing through dark serial frames into a more private zone, culminating in a contemplative painting wall. The residence, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2017, showcases an innovative approach to residential design through its integration of lightweight structural elements, strategic material selection, and careful consideration of spatial flow. The project successfully balances design intention with practical living requirements, creating an environment that not only serves its functional purpose but also expresses profound spatial qualities that enhance the user's daily experience.
