The Chasing Of The Sunlight Interior Design

The Chasing of the Sunlight Interior Design is an innovative residential interior design project that exemplifies efficient space utilization in compact urban living environments, completed in January 2021 in Taipei City, Taiwan. This sophisticated design solution, created by Chen Kuan-Chiao and Wu Wei-Mou, transforms a modest 25-square-meter single-story residential space into a highly functional and aesthetically pleasing living environment. The design's minimalist approach deliberately avoids excessive ornamentation and complex line arrangements, instead focusing on a refined color palette of introverted dark and light grayscale tones complemented by warm wood accents. The project's distinctive features include clear water mold coating trowel walls, waterproof wood flooring, and an imitation stone system board dining table that accommodates three to four people. Notable architectural elements include a strategically placed barn door at the entrance, which elegantly resolves circulation challenges near the kitchen area, and a black-coated ceiling treatment that creates an illusion of increased height. The bathroom design demonstrates particular ingenuity, featuring rebuilt brick wall compartments with comprehensive waterproofing and ceiling-mounted instantaneous water heating to maximize floor space efficiency. The project, which won an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, masterfully balances openness with privacy through the use of glass sliding doors and shading curtains, allowing natural light penetration while maintaining spatial flexibility for future furniture modifications.
