The 3D Jewellery Box Event Activation

The 3D Jewellery Box Event Activation is an innovative interactive retail installation that revolutionized the traditional concept of jewelry display through a harmonious blend of technology and artistic expression. Created by designers Beck Storer and Paul Meeuwsen, this monumental installation featured a striking 2.4-meter-long sculptural jewel that served as the centerpiece of an immersive retail experience. The design, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Event and Happening Design category, drew inspiration from Australia's natural coastal treasures, incorporating elements reminiscent of shells, coral, and abstract rocks found on sandy beaches. The installation's most distinctive feature was its sophisticated implementation of light and color through carefully positioned prisms, creating a dynamic interplay of reflections and shadows. Constructed using over 10 meters of fluorescent perspex and finished with a night black reflective coating, the 30-kilogram structure demanded meticulous engineering to achieve its intended visual effects. The development process involved extensive prototyping, beginning with unconventional materials like uncooked spaghetti and kebab sticks, before advancing to the final construction. This methodical approach ensured optimal light interaction and structural integrity within the public space. The installation successfully merged traditional metalwork craftsmanship with contemporary 3D printing technology, offering visitors an interactive opportunity to create their own jewelry while experiencing the mesmerizing visual display. The project exemplified innovative spatial design through its strategic use of mirrors, colored prisms, and lighting techniques, creating a multidimensional experience that transformed the retail environment into an artistic destination.
