Tetris Residential House

Tetris Residential House is an innovative residential architectural project that exemplifies contemporary Brazilian modernist design principles through its sophisticated spatial organization and material continuity. Located in São Paulo, this longitudinal structure masterfully responds to its linear lot constraints through a thoughtful composition of volumes, featuring a distinctive wooden volume measuring 2.85 meters in height and 19 meters in length, positioned along the eastern façade within a ceiling height of 5.15 meters. The design's spatial arrangement creates a permeable living area that seamlessly connects the entrance to the rear of the property, while a wooden shelf incorporating a library and fireplace defines the eastern boundary. The ground floor's wooden lining extends to the exterior, becoming an integral part of the façade, while stone flooring flows continuously from the living room to the terrace, dissolving traditional spatial boundaries. The house incorporates innovative climate control features through movable wooden slat panels that function as brise soleil, effectively managing solar heat while maintaining ventilation. The upper floor houses four bedrooms, including a master suite overlooking the garden, while the ground floor's wooden box elegantly accommodates a washroom, staircase, and a dining room that opens entirely to the spacious garden. This Gold A' Design Award-winning project, completed in 2012, demonstrates exceptional achievement in architectural design through its harmonious integration of form and function, innovative use of materials, and sophisticated response to environmental considerations.
