Tentative Post Disaster Tent
Tentative Post Disaster Tent is an innovative emergency shelter solution designed to provide immediate accommodation in post-disaster scenarios, combining practicality with humanitarian considerations. This smart compact shelter, designed by Hakan Gürsu, represents a significant advancement in disaster relief accommodation, featuring a collapsible structure that can be transported efficiently and deployed rapidly in emergency situations. The design incorporates sophisticated engineering elements, including a fiber and weather-resistant textile construction with quilted, thermally insulated perlite layers, ensuring durability and climate adaptability. The shelter's intelligent design allows for quick assembly, requiring approximately one hour to set up, while its compact dimensions when collapsed (200cm x 400cm x 30cm) enable efficient transportation, with a single semi-trailer truck capable of carrying 24 units. When fully deployed, the tent provides comfortable living space for two adults and two children, with dimensions of 200cm width, 400cm depth, and 250cm height. Notable technical features include an innovative roof system that facilitates water collection, ventilation, and natural lighting, while thermal insulating recyclable composite decks and elevated flooring prevent heat loss. The design, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in the Social Design category, addresses critical challenges in disaster relief by offering a practical, scalable solution for temporary housing needs. Its structural integrity is maintained through aluminum components, while the installation process involves a straightforward sequence of unfolding covers and extending structural elements to create a stable living environment.
