Tentacle Jewellery set is an innovative contemporary jewelry design that reimagines traditional gem-setting techniques through a distinctive artistic approach inspired by urban graffiti art. Created by Chinese designer Liu Yue between 2014 and 2016, this avant-garde collection represents a significant departure from conventional jewelry motifs by incorporating fractured-style metalwork that partially encases gemstones, allowing for the creative use of flawed gems while maintaining aesthetic appeal. The design features triangular components with 75mm perimeters, constructed through a sophisticated combination of wax carving and laser welding techniques, utilizing silver and glass as primary materials. The unique setting method involves a two-part construction where top and bottom sections are fabricated separately to create an inner space for stone placement, secured through precise laser welding. This innovative approach not only solves traditional gem-setting challenges but also enhances the value proposition of lower-quality stones through artistic concealment. The design's conceptual foundation draws from a specific piece of graffiti art observed in Piazza Greco, Milan, challenging the traditional boundaries between street art and luxury accessories.
