Temple Cake Stand
Temple Cake stand is an innovative and contemporary kitchenware design that revolutionizes the traditional cake display concept through its modular and space-efficient approach. Created by British designer Chris Woodward, this versatile serving solution addresses modern storage and functionality challenges in home baking. The design features a sophisticated three-tier configuration comprising pressure-molded ceramic plates in varying dimensions (304x255mm, 230x192mm, and 158x132mm), which elegantly connect via a central tapered spine crafted from solid beech wood with an oiled finish. The system's ingenious assembly mechanism allows users to slide plates over the central spine intuitively, while a specialized mini-spine component, manufactured from injection-molded ABS with a fine texture, facilitates compact storage when not in use. This platinum A' Design Award-winning creation exemplifies thoughtful design through its emphasis on clean aesthetics, material celebration, and practical functionality. The stand's adaptable nature permits various plate configurations to suit different occasions, while its dishwasher-safe components ensure convenient maintenance. The design's development, spanning from November 2011 to March 2012, emerged from extensive research including domestic baker interviews and creative workshops, resulting in a solution that masterfully balances contemporary aesthetics with practical requirements for modern living spaces.
