Tears in Venice Residential is an award-winning interior design project that exemplifies innovative spatial planning and thoughtful integration of natural light in contemporary residential architecture. Located in Taiwan, this sophisticated residential space was designed by Raymond Li and Tavia Fan, who masterfully transformed two housing units into a cohesive living environment for a family of four. The design, completed in September 2021, spans an impressive 10000mm x 9000mm x 3000mm and employs the concept of FUSION to create a harmonious balance between openness and functionality. The project's distinguishing features include seamless light pathways created through strategically placed cabinets, rounded structural elements that soften the space's visual impact, and an ingenious solution to incorporate a structural girder as a design element separating the living room from the open kitchen. The designers overcame significant challenges in meeting legal and structural requirements while maintaining their artistic vision, particularly in the creative handling of the main living space's girder integration. The interior's sophisticated lighting design creates multiple layers of spatial depth, incorporating both natural and artificial light sources to maintain a consistent ambiance throughout the day.
