Tearalab Logo Design Corporate Identity is an innovative visual branding system created for a Korean and Japanese fusion bubble tea establishment, distinguished by its unique laboratory-inspired design approach. The corporate identity, conceptualized and executed by Canadian designer Xiang Yao, represents a significant departure from conventional beverage branding by incorporating scientific and experimental elements into its visual language. The design's cornerstone is a sophisticated logo that ingeniously merges the imagery of laboratory equipment with beverage service elements, particularly integrating experimental cup motifs with straw components to create a distinctive industrial aesthetic. This comprehensive identity system encompasses various touchpoints, including business cards (3.5 x 2 inches), illuminated signage (20 x 20 inches), and a range of branded PP plastic cups in multiple sizes (12oz, 16oz, and 24oz). The design successfully overcomes the challenge of associating laboratory imagery with food service while maintaining an approachable and appealing aesthetic. The project, implemented between November 2015 and February 2016, garnered significant attention in Toronto's competitive culinary landscape and was recognized with a Silver A' Design Award in the Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design category in 2019, acknowledging its innovative approach to visual branding and effective communication. The identity system's success lies in its ability to break traditional beverage branding conventions while creating a memorable and cohesive brand experience across multiple customer touchpoints, from physical signage to serving vessels and promotional materials.
