This groundbreaking design, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Jewelry Design category, showcases a unique construction method that departs from traditional frame-making techniques. Rather than utilizing the conventional method of cutting shapes from flat materials, each frame is meticulously assembled from multiple hand-formed components, primarily crafted from alpaca metal. The distinctive design features a sophisticated 'sandwich' frame construction, incorporating ultra-scratched surfaces with hand-finished details, and employs an innovative rimlock closing mechanism featuring watch crown components. The collection demonstrates exceptional versatility through its two primary variants: an all-metal version and a combination design incorporating acetate eye rims. The development process, spanning from initial conception in Pasadena, California to final realization in the foothills of the Dolomites, Northern Italy, required extensive research in materials, manufacturing techniques, and compliance with optical industry standards.
