Tarentum Restaurant with Bar is an innovative Greek-themed dining establishment that exemplifies the seamless integration of Mediterranean architectural elements with contemporary restaurant design, distinguished by its unique interpretation of Mykonos' natural karst cave formations. This remarkable interior space, spanning 386 square meters, demonstrates sophisticated spatial organization with 276 square meters dedicated to the main dining area, complemented by a 20-square-meter bar and a 40-square-meter kitchen facility. The design's cornerstone lies in its groundbreaking artificial cave construction technique, utilizing a complex layering system of steel skeleton, flexible fabric, foam plastic, and concrete to recreate the authentic ambiance of Greek island grottos. The space employs a carefully curated material palette including micro-cement, mattile, marble, and specialized lighting systems to achieve its distinctive aesthetic character. The restaurant's layout accommodates 104 indoor patrons across 36 versatile dining configurations, with additional outdoor seating for 24 guests, creating an immersive cultural experience that transports visitors from urban China to the Aegean coastline. This architectural achievement, completed in May 2022, represents a significant milestone in experiential dining design, earning recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category for its innovative spatial conception and cultural authenticity. The project successfully overcomes the challenge of translating Greek architectural vernacular into a contemporary Chinese context while maintaining cultural authenticity through meticulous attention to detail in both structural elements and decorative finishes.
