Takeen Omakase Bar
Takeen Omakase Bar is an innovative interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious integration of biomimetic principles with functional gastronomy space requirements in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This architecturally significant establishment represents a groundbreaking approach to sustainable restaurant design, drawing inspiration from the mathematical patterns found in natural bamboo growth formations. The design's distinctive feature lies in its organic, fluid spatial organization that mirrors plant morphology, particularly evident in the bifurcating and converging walls of the entrance, bar, and kitchen areas. The project demonstrates remarkable environmental consciousness by achieving a net positive carbon impact, storing 18.77 tons more carbon than it emits through the strategic use of bamboo and timber materials. The interior's sophisticated design language emerges from the mathematical interpretation of phyllotaxis and the golden ratio (1.618), which are reflected in the branching patterns and spatial arrangements. The seamless integration of curved bamboo surfaces creates a continuous flow between different functional zones, while innovative storage solutions provide 37 percent additional capacity without compromising the aesthetic purity of the space. Recognized with a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, this project stands out for its exceptional synthesis of traditional Japanese dining culture with contemporary sustainable design principles. The design's sensory experience is enhanced through the careful manipulation of natural light, which cascades down the undulating forms, creating an immersive environment that celebrates the intrinsic properties of bamboo as both a material and a spatial concept.
