Taipei Eros Hair Salon is an innovative interior design project completed in 2016, representing a sophisticated interpretation of contemporary salon aesthetics through its distinctive geometric composition of black, white, and grey elements. Located in downtown Taipei, this 198-square-meter space transforms the conventional salon experience through its architectural approach to hair styling gestures, translating the dynamic movements of cutting and styling into sculptural entities. The design, conceived by Stephen Kuo, employs a triangular motif that shapes functional cubes and planes from ceiling to floor through careful manipulation of space, creating a harmonious interplay between form and function. The salon's distinctive feature lies in its innovative lighting system, where light bars embedded within dividing lines create illuminated belts that serve both practical and aesthetic purposes, particularly addressing the challenges of a lowered ceiling while creating an immersive spatial experience. The design's sophisticated use of mirrors amplifies the spatial dynamics, allowing light to meander freely between planes and creating a three-dimensional visual dialogue. The whitewashed background serves as a canvas that represents the brand's pure aesthetic vision, while the careful integration of regional characteristics ensures the space remains both innovative and culturally relevant. The juxtaposition of movement and stillness defines the salon's singular dynamics, with the layered and displaced vision enriching the overall spatial experience. This exceptional design earned recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its outstanding contribution to spatial design innovation and its successful marriage of functionality with aesthetic excellence.
