T And F Timer

T And F Timer

T and F Timer is an innovative home appliance design that revolutionizes the traditional alarm experience by incorporating emotional intelligence into timekeeping functionality. Developed by Jung Joo Sohn, an assistant professor of industrial and interaction design, this sophisticated device represents a significant advancement in personalized time management tools. The timer's distinctive feature lies in its ability to associate five different emotional states with corresponding custom-designed sounds and matching colors, creating a multi-sensory experience that transcends conventional alarm functionality. With compact dimensions of 55.5 mm width, 52 mm depth, and 38 mm height, the device employs advanced technology including tilt sensors, LED lighting, and a specialized timer module. Users interact with the device through an intuitive timer dial located at the bottom, and the system activates upon being laid flat, offering USB-C charging capability for convenient power management. The design, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Home Appliances Design category, addresses the growing demand for personalized productivity tools by allowing users to align their alarm settings with anticipated activities and emotional contexts. This innovative approach to time management is supported by comprehensive research examining the relationship between customized alarm configurations and productivity metrics, demonstrating the device's potential to enhance user engagement and task performance through its emotionally intelligent design philosophy.
