Synchron Desk Clock

Synchron Desk Clock

Synchron Desk Clock is an innovative timepiece that revolutionizes the traditional concept of time display through its unique mechanical design, showcasing official times of multiple countries simultaneously. This sophisticated desk clock, designed by Farzan Shamasblou, employs a distinctive dual-disc system that replaces conventional hour hands, where half-lines represent hour indicators for different geographical locations, complemented by a smaller disc featuring minute indicators. Crafted from polypropylene fiber reinforced concrete with aluminum and coated PVC components, the clock's construction demonstrates a harmonious blend of industrial materials and precise engineering. The design critically examines the role of analog timekeeping in the digital age, presenting time as both a mechanical and arbitrary concept across different time zones. Measuring 90 mm x 130 mm x 80 mm, this versatile timepiece accommodates 27 different countries' time zones and incorporates an innovative solution for Daylight Saving Time (DST) through its dual-sided hour disk design. The clock's aesthetic and functional elements challenge traditional timepiece design paradigms while serving as a statement piece that questions our relationship with time in contemporary society. This exceptional design earned recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Decorative Items and Homeware Design category, acknowledging its innovative approach to time display and its contribution to modern interior design.
