Sweet Osmanthus Wine is an innovative packaging design project that exemplifies the harmonious blend of traditional Chinese culture with contemporary design aesthetics. Created by designer Yunxin Chen and team in 2019-2020, this sophisticated packaging concept draws inspiration from the rich cultural heritage of China's Jiangnan region, particularly its renowned garden architecture and three thousand years of history. The design features a distinctive box structure measuring 230mm x 90mm x 90mm, incorporating traditional window motifs that offer varying perspectives of the Qian Li Jiang Nan Tu (Thousand Miles of Jiangnan Scenery) across its four sides. The product itself represents a premium beverage crafted exclusively from natural sweet osmanthus and grape juice, without any water addition, reflecting a commitment to purity and authenticity. The packaging design, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Packaging Design Category, masterfully integrates visual storytelling elements that showcase the artistic essence of Jiangnan garden design while serving as a contemporary interpretation of Chinese cultural preservation. The project successfully overcame the challenge of visualizing three millennia of dynastic history through modern design techniques, resulting in a packaging solution that not only protects and presents the product but also serves as a cultural artifact that communicates the sophisticated heritage of Jiangnan cuisine and aesthetics. The design's achievement was recognized at the A' Design Award & Competition, where it was lauded for its innovative approach to packaging design, cultural relevance, and aesthetic appeal.
