Support Small Business Poster is an innovative visual communication design created by Min Huei Lu that addresses the economic challenges faced by local restaurants during the COVID-19 pandemic. This strategic graphic design initiative combines illustration and photography to promote the synergistic relationship between beverage establishments and local dining venues, specifically focusing on tea and food pairing experiences. The poster, designed using Adobe Illustration software, features carefully curated visual elements that showcase various food categories alongside beverage options, implementing a sophisticated balance between illustrated and photographic content to prevent visual overwhelming while maintaining aesthetic appeal. Measuring 8.5x11 for print format, with additional digital adaptations for social media platforms (1080px X 1080px for Instagram, 820px X 312px for Facebook/Website Banner), the design demonstrates versatile cross-platform functionality. The project, which ran from August to November 2020 in California, emerged from comprehensive research including online studies, one-on-one interviews, and consumer surveys, revealing valuable insights into food-beverage pairing preferences. The design earned recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design category, acknowledging its excellence in addressing social responsibility while maintaining high aesthetic and functional standards.
