Developed by German architect Peter Kuczia, this groundbreaking infrastructure project combines sustainable design principles with practical urban functionality. The system integrates a biodegradable bamboo structural framework with photovoltaic glass panels to create a dual-purpose installation that provides shelter while generating clean energy. The design, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, features a parametrically developed construction that adapts to various walkway configurations and route shapes. Its modular architecture comprises repetitive round bamboo arches and purlins supporting non-reflective glass solar panels, complemented by a light-diffusing fabric membrane for enhanced protection. The installation process utilizes steel screw foundations, eliminating the need for concrete and enabling rapid deployment with minimal environmental impact. The system's efficiency is remarkable, with one kilometer of installation capable of generating approximately 2000 MWh of electricity, sufficient to power 750 households or support more than 1,000 electric vehicles annually. The design's versatility allows for customization through adjustable panel rows, module spacing, and inclination angles to optimize performance based on local conditions.
