Sunny Chinese House Residence

Sunny Chinese House Residence

Sunny Chinese House Residence is an exemplary architectural project that masterfully integrates traditional Chinese design principles with modern living comfort, situated in Chongqing, China. This 400-square-meter detached villa, designed by Ailing Tian, represents a sophisticated reinterpretation of classical Chinese architectural elements while addressing contemporary lifestyle needs. The residence's design philosophy centers on creating a harmonious balance between traditional aesthetics and modern functionality, featuring distinctive elements such as symmetrical layouts that embody the Yin and Yang concept, traditional pitched roofs with log Chinese lintel modeling, and carefully curated Chinese-style furniture and decorative elements. The innovative approach to natural lighting sets this project apart, with the transformation of exterior walls into floor-to-ceiling glass windows in public areas, complemented by strategic placement of skylights, sunrooms, and terraces that enhance the connection between interior spaces and the natural environment. The design successfully overcomes the challenge of creating a traditional Chinese courtyard atmosphere within a modern villa structure through the implementation of a two-story high exterior wall, effectively establishing an enclosed courtyard feeling characteristic of classical Chinese architecture. The project, which earned the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design, demonstrates exceptional attention to detail in its fusion of cultural elements with contemporary comfort, featuring refined interpretations of Ming Dynasty furniture and thoughtful integration of traditional decorative elements such as calligraphy, paintings, and porcelain pieces. The residence stands as a testament to the possibility of preserving cultural heritage while embracing modern design solutions, creating a living space that honors Chinese architectural traditions while meeting the demands of contemporary lifestyle requirements.
