Sundance Apartment House

Sundance Apartment House

Sundance Apartment House is an exemplary residential interior design project completed in 2018 in Taipei City, Taiwan, distinguished by its sophisticated implementation of grayscale aesthetics and masterful manipulation of natural light. The 166-square-meter space demonstrates an innovative approach to contemporary living through its meticulous attention to materiality and spatial composition. The design philosophy centers on the fundamental cycles of domestic life, incorporating the essential movements of lying, sitting, standing, and walking into its spatial organization. The interior's refined precision manifests through a carefully curated palette of materials, including dark metal, wooden surfaces, and cool glass, complemented by strategic placement of greenery. The project's distinctive character emerges from its treatment of natural light, where full and partial sunlight conditions transform the grayscale environment into a dynamic, living space. The design achieves a harmonious balance between functional and aesthetic considerations through proportional division and thoughtful material contrasts, creating warm, human-scaled interfaces within the living areas. The integration of custom furnishings, including tables, cupboards, and cabinets, reinforces the project's cohesive design language while addressing practical needs. This exceptional work, recognized with a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2019, exemplifies how contemporary residential design can elevate everyday living experiences through careful consideration of light, materiality, and spatial flow.
