Summer Afternoon Residence is an award-winning residential interior design project that exemplifies contemporary Japanese-inspired living spaces within a compact 92.5-square-meter apartment. The design, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space Design category, masterfully integrates transparent partitions, wooden folding windows, and sliding glass doors to create a seamless flow of space and natural light throughout the dwelling. The project's distinctive approach to spatial organization employs a sophisticated material palette including special grey and green paints, wood veneers, architectural concrete, and moru glass, creating a harmonious blend of textures and surfaces. The residence's public areas feature a minimalist grey base complemented by natural wood grain elements, while the private spaces incorporate subtle green accents for visual interest. The innovative design solution addresses the challenges of limited space through thoughtful integration of storage solutions and multi-functional areas, including a complete shoe cabinet, study room, and gaming space, all without compromising the original kitchen layout. The design's emphasis on visual continuity is achieved through careful consideration of light transmission and spatial flow, with sliding doors and windows serving both practical and aesthetic purposes. The project, completed in March 2021 in Taiwan, demonstrates exceptional attention to detail in its execution, particularly in its response to the client's desire for a space inspired by Japanese aesthetic sensibilities, while maintaining functionality and modern living requirements.
