Stratum Clinic is an innovative interior design project that reimagines the traditional clinical environment through a sophisticated blend of natural elements and contemporary architectural features. Designed by Peter Cheng and Sam Tsai in Taiwan, this medical facility spans 6.5 meters in width, 230 meters in depth, and reaches a height of 300 meters, embodying a harmonious fusion of functionality and aesthetic appeal. The design draws inspiration from naturally stacked stones, incorporating irregular lines, stone textures, and marble elements to create an atmosphere that balances sharp architectural precision with calming organic elements. The clinic's distinctive features include an aluminum wavy grille exterior that transforms the conventional clinical facade, while the interior showcases a thoughtful progression of design elements from the waiting area to the medical spaces. The space utilizes an open design concept enhanced by strategic mirror placement along ceiling edges to create an illusion of increased height and spatial expansion. The material palette combines gray stone with warm wood veneers, establishing a cohesive and welcoming environment that departs from the typically sterile clinical atmosphere. This innovative approach to healthcare design earned the project a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2019, recognizing its excellence in spatial design, material selection, and innovative approach to creating a patient-centered healing environment. The design successfully addresses the challenge of integrating complex ceiling mirror installations while maintaining the intended aesthetic impact, demonstrating technical precision and creative problem-solving in healthcare interior design.
