Strabo Sofa

Strabo Sofa

Strabo Sofa is an innovative furniture design that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of dynamic geometric forms with organic curves, created by British designer Rolans Novikovs. This distinctive seating solution, which earned the Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, showcases a revolutionary approach to contemporary furniture design through its striking visual composition that appears to stretch and pull in multiple directions, reflecting the dynamic nature of modern lifestyles. The design's foundation draws inspiration from fundamental geometric shapes, particularly triangles, while incorporating smooth, curved elements to achieve an optimal balance between bold aesthetics and user comfort. The sofa's sophisticated construction utilizes a combination of wood and fiberglass to achieve its complex curvature, complemented by foam padding and premium upholstery options that can be customized in various materials and colors. Notable features include its semi-enclosed form that creates an intimate seating experience, with dimensions of 2520mm in length, 880mm in depth, and 980mm in height. The design process, which spanned from October 2013 to May 2015, involved extensive research and multiple iterations to perfect the integration of sharp geometric elements with flowing organic forms. This furniture piece represents a significant achievement in contemporary furniture design, offering both visual impact and functional comfort while demonstrating innovative material application and manufacturing techniques.
