Stodolove Residential Architecture

Stodolove Residential Architecture

Stodolove Residential Architecture is a distinguished residential architectural project completed in 2022, representing a masterful reconstruction of a 1940s farm building located in Rumia, Poland. This innovative architectural endeavor seamlessly integrates historical preservation with contemporary design principles, transforming a traditional agricultural structure into a sophisticated modern dwelling while maintaining deep respect for its cultural heritage. The project's most notable feature is its thoughtful adaptation of traditional barn aesthetics, employing charred Scandinavian spruce and Siberian larch boards for the facade and roof, creating a striking visual connection to the region's agricultural past. The 126-square-meter structure, rising to a height of 8.5 meters, showcases exceptional attention to detail in its design, particularly evident in its automated shutters that pay homage to traditional barn gates. Situated in a picturesque valley surrounded by forest and fish ponds, the architecture demonstrates remarkable sensitivity to its natural surroundings and local building traditions. The interior design is anchored by an innovative ground-floor layout, featuring a central window with a carefully planned seating area that serves as the heart of the living space. The project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, overcame significant challenges including conservation restrictions and regulatory requirements, ultimately achieving a harmonious balance between historical preservation and modern functionality. The design's success lies in its ability to create a contemporary living space that respects its historical context while incorporating sustainable materials and innovative construction techniques.
