Stillness Residential

Stillness Residential

Stillness Residential is an award-winning residential interior design project located in a serene hillside community in Taipei, Taiwan, exemplifying contemporary luxury living through its thoughtful integration of natural light and sophisticated material selection. The 115-square-meter residence, completed in 2016 by designer Peter Cheng and Sam Tsai, features floor-to-ceiling windows that create a seamless connection with the surrounding mountain landscape while flooding the interior with natural illumination. The design's distinctive characteristics include an elegant marble wall that extends from the entrance through to the living and dining areas, creating visual continuity and spatial flow. The interior palette is dominated by rich brown tones and dark brushwood that celebrates natural textures, complemented by innovative material applications such as specialized metal plating and titanium embellishments that enhance the overall spatial quality. The public spaces are conceived in an open-plan arrangement, with a sophisticated lighting scheme featuring indirect illumination that highlights the irregular ceiling details and creates a warm, inviting atmosphere. Notable design elements include antique mirrors strategically placed in the dining area to amplify the sense of space, and a meticulously crafted folded ceiling that unifies different functional zones. The project, which garnered the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design category in 2017, demonstrates exceptional attention to detail in its material transitions and spatial composition, while maintaining a clean and refined aesthetic that balances luxury with functionality.
