Step House Resort Villa is an innovative architectural project located in Vinh Phuc, Vietnam, exemplifying sustainable design principles adapted for tropical climates. This sophisticated residential structure, designed by architect Hiroomi Takemori and his team, represents a harmonious blend of traditional Vietnamese architectural elements and contemporary design solutions. The three-story villa, spanning a total floor area of 266.55 square meters on a 336.77-square-meter site, showcases a distinctive stepped design where each level is strategically offset to create functional balconies on the southeast side while providing natural shading for lower floors on the northwest facade. The design incorporates traditional wooden roof and door systems that facilitate natural ventilation and mitigate solar radiation, crucial considerations for the hot and humid climate of Northern Vietnam. Each floor features carefully planned gardens that extend toward an adjacent lake, creating a seamless integration with the natural surroundings. The first floor serves as a communal space, the second floor accommodates guests with adaptable sliding door systems, and the third floor houses the owner's private quarters. The structure employs a thoughtful combination of materials, including reinforced concrete, wooden elements, and ceramic roof tiles, all selected to optimize environmental performance and aesthetic appeal. This architectural achievement, which was completed in 2016, earned recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, acknowledging its innovative approach to climate-responsive design and its successful integration of traditional craftsmanship with modern technological solutions.
