Stair Rods
Stair rods are decorative metal rods that are used to hold carpet runners in place on a staircase. Originally, stair rods were used to secure stair runners made of heavy materials such as wool or velvet, which were prone to slipping and sliding on polished wooden stairs. However, over time, stair rods have become more of a decorative element in their own right, adding elegance and sophistication to staircases. Stair rods are typically made of brass, although other metals such as chrome, nickel, and wrought iron are also used. They come in a variety of styles, from simple and understated to ornate and highly decorative. Some stair rods feature intricate designs, while others are more minimalist in appearance. Regardless of their style, stair rods are designed to complement the overall decor of the home and add a touch of refinement to the staircase. To install stair rods, a carpet runner is first laid over the staircase. The stair rods are then placed at regular intervals along the length of the runner, with the rod passing through the carpet and holding it in place. The rods are secured to the staircase using brackets or screws, depending on the design of the rod. In addition to their decorative function, stair rods also serve a practical purpose by helping to keep the carpet runner in place and preventing it from slipping or bunching up. This not only makes the staircase safer to use, but also helps to prolong the life of the carpet runner.
