Splash Ink Residential is an innovative interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of Eastern and Western design philosophies, awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category. This residential space transformation, conceived by designer Tien Wan Li, demonstrates a masterful approach to spatial reorganization and aesthetic integration. The design's cornerstone features a striking implementation of large-scale marble blocks adorned with splash ink patterns reminiscent of traditional Oriental landscape paintings, creating a sophisticated interplay between contemporary architectural elements and classical artistic expression. The project's technical excellence is evident in its thoughtful spatial solutions, including the strategic repositioning of the living room to maximize natural light penetration and the implementation of an arch-style ceiling to enhance vertical space perception. The design incorporates sophisticated material selections, featuring deep and light-colored stone variations complemented by natural wood veneers, creating a visual narrative that mirrors the gradation techniques found in Oriental ink paintings. Notable architectural interventions include the widening of private area entrances to 1.2 meters, establishing a grand sense of flow, while hollowed titanium elements and titanium strip framing in the living room counterbalance the visual weight of the stone elements. This residential design successfully addresses the challenge of incorporating substantial stone blocks without compromising spatial lightness, achieved through careful consideration of light penetration and flow dynamics, ultimately creating an environment that seamlessly integrates storage functionality with artistic expression.
