Spiral Washbasin

Spiral Washbasin

Spiral Washbasin is an innovative bathroom fixture that reimagines the traditional washbasin through a distinctive serpentine design, created by Iranian designers Naser Nasiri and Taher Nasiri. This groundbreaking sanitary ware concept, which earned the Bronze A' Design Award in the Bathroom Furniture and Sanitary Ware Design category, draws inspiration from the mythological symbolism of snakes as guardians of precious resources, particularly water. The design features a conical water pool encircled by a spiral form that mimics a snake's protective embrace, embodying both aesthetic appeal and functional innovation. Standing at 80 centimeters in height with a graduated diameter ranging from 25 to 50 centimeters, this ceramic fixture incorporates a pioneering hands-free operation system through foot pedals, addressing hygiene concerns in public spaces while offering precise temperature control. The integration of ceramic for the sink basin and plastic for the body structure demonstrates a thoughtful balance between durability and manufacturing practicality. Developed between May 2013 and October 2014, this design represents a significant advancement in bathroom furniture design, combining cultural symbolism with modern functionality. The pedal-operated mechanism not only enhances user experience but also promotes water conservation and improved sanitation by eliminating the need for hand contact with faucets. This design exemplifies the intersection of artistic vision and practical utility in contemporary sanitary ware, offering an elegant solution that addresses both aesthetic and functional considerations in public and private bathroom spaces.
