Sotavento Functional Art Entrance Table

Sotavento Functional Art Entrance Table

Sotavento Functional art entrance table is an innovative piece of functional art furniture that exemplifies the seamless integration of artistic expression and practical utility in contemporary design. This sophisticated two-piece composition, created by designer Fabrizio Constanza, draws inspiration from nautical terminology, where 'Sotavento' refers to downwind sailing, embodying themes of resilience, commitment, and strength. The design features a masterful combination of two distinct volumes: a primary wooden platform characterized by its smooth, elegant form, and a dynamic secondary table crafted from steel with a striking red finish. The piece's dimensions of 140cm x 45cm x 85cm are carefully calculated to achieve optimal functionality while maintaining aesthetic harmony. What sets this design apart is its ingenious dual-nature construction, where the metallic component can slide effortlessly in and out of the wooden shell, offering adaptable functionality for modern living spaces without compromising its artistic integrity. The creation process involved intricate collaboration between master woodworkers and metalworkers, who built the piece from inside out to ensure precise tolerances between the two components. This award-winning design, recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Limited Edition and Custom Design category, represents a significant achievement in combining artistic vision with functional design, demonstrating exceptional craftsmanship and innovative thinking in contemporary furniture design. The piece's ability to function both as a unified composition and as separate elements, while maintaining aesthetic coherence in either configuration, showcases its sophisticated design approach and attention to detail.
