Sorriso Watch is an innovative timepiece that uniquely combines emotional interaction with timekeeping functionality, representing a significant advancement in interactive wearable technology. This distinctive watch, designed by Mehrdad Khorsandi, features a sophisticated smile-recognition sensor system integrated with a diaphragmatic mechanism that reveals the time display only when the wearer smiles at it, embodying the philosophy of promoting happiness through daily interactions. The watch's construction incorporates high-quality materials, including a stainless steel body and wristlet, complemented by aluminum components in the diaphragm and hands, with dimensions of 40 millimeters for the watch face diameter and adjustable wristlet lengths of 75 and 120 millimeters. At its core, the device features an LCD smart screen positioned beneath the watch hands, capable of displaying various images stored on an internal memory card, creating a personalized experience each time the diaphragm opens. This innovative approach to timepiece design, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Jewelry Design category, addresses contemporary social needs by encouraging positive emotional expression and incorporating elements of surprise and delight into daily timekeeping. The watch's development, completed in Tehran between October 2016 and February 2017, represents a thoughtful integration of technological functionality with emotional design, aiming to contribute to social wellbeing through its unique interaction paradigm that requires users to smile, thereby potentially influencing both personal and social mood in positive ways.
