Sooyou Beauty Salon is an innovative interior design project located in Harbin, China, that revolutionizes the conventional beauty salon concept through its unique biomorphic architectural approach. The 450-square-meter space, designed by Peihe Xie, draws profound inspiration from cellular biology, specifically the constant fission and regeneration of human skin cells, translating these natural processes into sophisticated spatial structures through geometric shapes and fundamental linear elements. The design philosophy manifests in the interplay of straight lines and curves that outline large geometric blocks, creating a dynamic visual narrative throughout the space. The salon's aesthetic is characterized by a sophisticated dark color palette, predominantly featuring gray and black tones punctuated by strategic red accents, while carefully planned illumination creates dramatic spatial highlights that guide visitors through the environment. The innovative spatial arrangement, completed in July 2020, employs wooden splints to achieve complex structural forms, demonstrating exceptional precision in size, positioning, and proportional relationships. The entrance features a distinctive curved wall that creates an intriguing visual perspective and establishes an air of mystery, while the interior spaces are thoughtfully segmented to ensure client privacy while maintaining fluid circulation. This pioneering commercial space design, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2021, successfully merges functional requirements with abstract bionic aesthetics, creating an environment that resonates with its predominantly female clientele through its sophisticated interpretation of cellular biology in architectural form.
